B&P Lamp® 7" Student Desk Lamp - Opal Glass Shade with Diamond Quilted Pattern & Crimped Top for Study, Reading, and Office Workspaces

I was looking for a glass lamp shade to replace a vintage hand painted one which was shattered when the lamp was accidentally knocked off the table on which it stood. I found no hand painted shade that matched or complimented the hand painted base of my lamp which holds a night light bulb. I decided to order this shade because it coordinates with the colors of the hand painted lamp base. It is a very attractive shade, and I especially like the rich texture of the diamond quilted pattern. My only problem was that the base of the shade is a bit too large in circumference to rest inside the brass holder of my lamp, so I am using clear tape at the back of the lamp to keep the shade fastened to the holder. I doubt that I would have been able to find a standard replacement shade which would seat itself inside the brass holder of my lamp, as its diameter is a bit less than 7 ". I phoned B&P to ask about the diameter of the shade; and their representative said it was 6 3/4", but it's actually 6 7/8". Other than finding someone to fabricate a custom shade, this shade is the next best alternative; and I am glad to be able to save a favorite vintage lamp from what had seemed to be utter destruction.
