This is a true cotton rug. It doesn't smell of anything but cotton, which is a huge relief after buying synthetic rugs which smell like chemicals long after you lay them on the floor. It is large (7' 6" x 9' 6") and definitely shaggy, which is somewhat of a con as it it flattens quickly and often has to be refreshed by vacuuming. The problem is that like cotton it is very linty. I have vacuumed it 6 times so far and each time the lint totally fills up my Dyson cordless vacuum canister. Not sure if this will ever stop - I sure hope so. But it looks great and I really do like the rug because it is made from natural materials and not chemicals.
