***Note: the listings online (on amazon and most other major online retailers) for the Beechler Diamond Inlay Mouthpieces (Letter+Number) are not fully descriptive of the mouthpiece (Letter+Number+Letter).I am a serious jazz saxophonist (been playing in jazz bands and combos for about a decade), and alto sax is my main instrument. I ordered this mouthpiece because I was getting bored with my sound and was in the mood for something brighter and edgier. I had heard someone play on a Beechler L6S and loved it, and after searching online and not finding any listings for these mouthpieces with two letters and a number, I decided to order the S6 thinking it might be the same mouthpiece model. I received it in the mail, and the mouthpiece said "S6S", so I was wrong. If I am not mistaken, I believe the first letter (small/medium/large) refers to the facing length, and is not indicated online.Anyway, I have been playing this mouthpiece (S6S) for three weeks now and love it so far! The sound is very bright indeed, but still warm and fully controllable. In fact, this is the most dynamic jazz mouthpiece I've ever played. Very comfortable down to a whisper, and fully capable of screaming like I'd never thought possible on the alto. The tone is very fat and full-bodied and fully comes to life in the higher registers. Altissimo is easy, and the low notes are nice as well. Tuning is good, too. All in all, I would absolutely recommend this mouthpiece, just make sure to call the supplier to see exactly which model you're getting. This mouthpiece does not come with a ligature, so I am playing it with the basic rovner ligature I already had and it works great. I am using Vandoren ZZ 2.5 reeds.
